Welcome to Southern!  The Saluki First Year (SFY) is a program designed to help guide new first year students through your transition to campus life.  College is an engaging time, and we want to make sure that you are connected, comfortable and able to achieve success as an SIUC student.

As a new student to SIUC, we want you to fully participate in the campus community by attending your classes, going to events, taking part in campus programs, and using the many services SIUC has to offer.  We encourage you to use the SFY office and web resources as a source for answers and assistance as you work your way through your first year.

When you arrived to SIUC, you were provided with a copy of "The Naked Roommate", the student success book for this academic year.  This fun book, written by Harlan Cohen, has many tips and stories on surviving your first year of college.  Harlan will also be coming to SIUC to speak on October 13, as part of the SFY speaker series.

Click on the links to the left to learn more about SFY programs and services, access resources, and obtain answers to your questions.

We wish you the best of luck as you begin your first year of what promises to be a fantastic student career at SIUC!
